TREATMENT OF METALS, ELECTRONIC PARTS |

EUROSIDER nitrogen generators can also be used both for the mixing of fused metals, where the materials,
due to high quality needs, must be free of impurities and to protect the casting of the welded material
and prevent alloy oxidation.
High quality is a must in the treatment of electronic parts where complex circuits get smaller and
smaller everyday. Another reason for which nitrogen should be used in the electronic parts treatment is
that according to European regulations such as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) as from 1st
July 2006 lead products can no longer be commercialized. Therefore many Companies are going over to
lead-free alloys instead of the traditional ones made of tin and lead. But the alternative alloys are
also characterised by a superior fusion point and higher working temperature that will probably cause
product oxidation.
Working in a protective atmosphere with a nitrogen purity of 99,5% means that the working temperatures
are lower for the lead-free alloys without the risks of damaging electronic components (particularly steel
components) mounted on the electronic board. It has been proved that with tin and lead alloys at high
nitrogen purity levels the machine reaches a working temperature of 50°C lower than that of the traditional
braze welding.
